Do you perform with an electronic die? Do you also own a deck of playing cards (stupid question, I know.)

If yes was your answer to both questions, please read the blurb to my upcoming release AFTERGLOW. If you don’t own an electronic die, please keep reading anyway, as there is also an alternative version included using marked poker chips.

Blurb

A coin is freely tossed, a die value is secretly selected, and a playing card is chosen in the fairest manner possible. Yet, the Performer can instantly divine all the choices that have been made.

As an added kicker, an envelope was handed out at the beginning of the effect. The envelope is opened to reveal the Performer predicted all 3 decisions in advance, defying odds of 624/1.

Please note: Electronic Die or marked poker chips, and AFTERGLOW gimmick is required to accomplish this effect.

AFTERGLOW GIMMICK CAN BE CONSTRUCTED YOURSELF, PURCHASED HERE, OR PURCHASED VIA BLACK CAT MAGIC.

Afterglow. Noun. Pleasant feelings that linger after a pleasurable moment or experience.

ACCLAIM FOR AFTERGLOW

Just finished reading it. It’s phenomenal!
— Raghav Gupta

We’ve all done predictions, we’ve all done confabulations, we all know they are popular amongst laymen. Afterall, who doesn’t want to be able to predict the future?

But what I have found to be the most interesting thing about Afterglow is how it is based around Chance and that each step involves a bigger odds. From the flip of a coin, the roll of a dice, to a randomly chosen playing card. It is an excellent premise for a Close-up performance and something that intrigues people instantly.

So when your prediction turns out to predict the exact result of the coin flip, the number on the dice and also the playing card, the participant’s heads explode.

As multiple methods are utilised, there is no way ANY layperson can backtrack it. Many magicians would be hard pressed to work it out upon viewing it, but that is my opinion.

Im sure most people who have predicted a playing card in the past will not be surprised by how that part is accomplished and even some non-magicians are aware that card forces exist. But, what seems to throw this out of the window with Afterglow is that the deck is SHUFFLED by the participant just seconds before the selection. There is no deck switch or 1-way force involved, just a deck of 52 cards. This makes this section of the routine SUPER STRONG.

As the Coin Flip and the Dice Roll are random and free events, this completes the layering of the mass deceit and cements the idea of chance.

I have added this to my own professional working set.

After buying an electronic die. I was struggling to come up with a routine that had structure and play big. I was originally put off by Afterglow because of my dyslexia. But I found the book easy to understand, to the point with no fluff. Kaleb does a fantastic job of explaining the structure of the routine along with offering alternative solutions regarding the method.

Afterglow is very adaptable and has plenty of room to make it your own.

This is an absolute must for anybody who owns an electronic die.
— THOMAS MALONEY

I’ve just finished Afterglow and the best compliment I can give is to say this will be replacing something and going straight into my working set. it is going to kill! Another winner from Kaleb!
— JUSTIN SAUL

I recently received the PDF version of this excellent routine and to say I’m impressed is an understatement. It’s no secret that an electronic die is needed (or marked poker chips) but the way this is structured by Kaleb is genius.

Excellent effect for the mentalist in me.
